India Won Medals in the Olympics in 2024: India’s triumph in the 2024 Olympics has marked a pivotal moment in the nation’s sporting history. Held in Paris from July 26 to August 11, the 2024 Summer Olympics witnessed India’s athletes clinch medals across various disciplines, showcasing their exceptional talent, resilience, and determination. This remarkable achievement not only underscores India’s growing prominence in the global sports arena but also reflects the country’s investment in sports development and athlete preparation.

The Indian team comprised 110 athletes who participated in 16 different sports. P.V. Sindhu and Sharath Kamal led the team during the opening ceremony, while Manu Bhaker and P. R. Sreejesh led during the closing ceremony.

India clinched a total of six medals at the Olympics, which included one silver and five bronze medals, securing the 71st position among the 206 participating NOCs. This represented India’s third-best medal tally, following the 2020 and 2012 Olympics.

Silver Medal Winner:

Neeraj Chopra, who clinched a silver medal in the men’s javelin throw event, became the first Indian Olympian to secure both a gold and a silver medal.

Bronze Medal Winners:

Manu Bhaker made history by winning two bronze medals in shooting, she is the first Indian athlete to achieve this feat in a single Olympics since India gained independence. Furthermore, wrestler Aman Sehrawat’s bronze medal victory made him the youngest-ever Indian to win a medal at the Olympics.

India achieved a total of six medals at the Games, consisting of one silver and five bronze medals, with three of them coming from shooting. This medal tally equaled India’s second-highest achievement from the previous Games. Manu Bhaker secured India’s first medal in the women’s 10m air pistol event, earning a bronze and making history as the first female shooter from India to win an Olympic medal. She then teamed up with Sarabjot Singh in the mixed 10m air pistol event to claim another bronze medal, marking the first instance of an Indian winning two medals in a single Olympics since independence. Swapnil Kusale followed with another bronze in the men’s 50m rifle three positions event, contributing to India’s Olympic Games have seen the awarding of my seventh shooting medal.

The men’s field hockey team clinched the bronze in the men’s event by defeating Spain in the match for third place, securing the country’s second consecutive bronze in men’s hockey at the Olympics. Neeraj Chopra then secured a silver medal in the men’s javelin throw event, becoming the fifth individual multiple medalist for India and the first to achieve a combination of gold and silver. Aman Sehrawat added to India’s medal tally with a bronze in the men’s freestyle 57kg wrestling event, making him the youngest Indian to win an Olympic medal at 21 years old.
